Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience to build the Diver?
No. The video guides assume you have never touched a watch movement before and walk you through every step. It is our most premium kit and a slightly more involved build than the Skeleton, so set aside unhurried time and follow the video.
How long does the Diver take to build?
About the same as the Skeleton — 2–3 hours. Work at your own pace — the videos pause when you do and the kit packs away between sessions.
What tools are included?
Everything you need: precision tweezers, a 2-in-1 chain tool for sizing the strap, a precision screwdriver, finger cots, an eye loupe, a dust blower and a movement holder. The Diver has a screw-down case back that you fit by hand, so no case press is needed.
What movement does the Diver use?
The Miyota 8215 — a widely used, well-regarded Japanese automatic (self-winding) mechanical movement.
Is it really water resistant?
The case has a screw-down crown, screw-down case back and rotating bezel and is rated to 100 m when correctly assembled. Because you build it yourself, we recommend a pressure test before swimming with it.
What size is the watch, and can I adjust the strap?
Stainless steel case with a 39 mm bezel and a total width of 44 mm plus the crown, sapphire glass, on a stainless steel chain-link strap with a 20 mm lug width; the 2-in-1 chain tool in the box lets you remove links to fit your wrist.
Is it a good gift?
Yes — one of our most popular gifts for watch lovers, and the most premium watch in our range: the classic diver style made famous by James Bond and Jacques Cousteau, built by the person you give it to.
